UE Annual “Sports Gala 2022” Concluded at Township Campus

In the present Era the public health is the main challenge for the nations, sports field is a catalyst to face the challenge, said Shabana Akhtar, Pakistan’s first woman Olympic Athlete at closing ceremony of “Annual Sports Gala 2022” held at University of Education, Lahore Main Campus here on March 31, 2022. The University Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Arshad presided over the ceremony. The Sports Gala featured separate competitions between male and female students in cricket, badminton, football, volleyball, tug-of-war, basketball, handball, athletics and table tennis.
Addressing the closing ceremony, the Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Arshad said that it is a great pleasure to see the cheerful faces of the students today and this credit goes to the organizers of the event. Addressing the students, the Pro Vice Chancellor said that the importance of sports cannot be denied. Educational institutions are not only a hub of knowledge and research and new innovations, but also strive to hone students' abilities by promoting healthy activities so that they can become a useful part of the society. On this occasion, the chief guest congratulated the University and especially the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.) on the excellent organization of the Sports Gala. She said that students should focus on improving themselves in all aspects including education, ethics and sports. Discipline and punctuality are essential for success in life and this is the primary purpose of organizing sports competitions among students in educational institutions.
At the end of the ceremony, trophies and prizes were distributed among the winning teams. Dr. Muhammad Omar Saleem, Director Sports of the University, thanked all the participants, including the Pro Vice Chancellor and the chief guest. A cultural festival and a folk music night were also organized during the sports gala, which was much appreciated by the students and the audience.
