Launching Ceremony of Book Titled "English Language Teaching in Pakistan: Theory, Research and Pedagogy” at UE Bank Road Campus

The launching ceremony of the book titled "English Language Teaching in Pakistan: Theory, Research and Pedagogy was held at Bank Road Campus of University of Education, Lahore on November 17, 2022. The event was presided over by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.) while Chairman Chief Minister Task Force on Education & former Education Minister Mian Imran Masood was the chief guest. The program was hosted by Bank Road Campus Principal Professor Dr. Samina Mazhar, while the local and foreign speakers included Dr. Christine Coombe, Dr. Naziha Ali, Dr. Muhammad Islam, Dr. Muhammad Kamal Khan, Dr. Humaira Irfan, Dr. Tayyaba Tamim, Dr. Zahida Mansoor, Dr. Asma Shahid Kazi, Professor Dr. Tariq Rehman and others.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I) said that the distance from the English language can be the biggest obstacle in the way of development because this language is rich in all kinds of inventions, innovations, modern technology and science. Therefore, we can safely say that proficiency in English language and teaching has become indispensable. He said that I hope that the said book will prove to be a masterpiece in terms of teaching and learning in English language, for which the efforts of the editors and the author of the book are commendable. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest, Chairman Chief Minister Task Force on Education Mian Imran Masood said that the negative attitude found in our society at a limited level towards the English language is condemnable. Today about one and a half to two billion people of the world speak and understand English language because they are aware the importance of it. So, I congratulate the author, editors and publisher on the publication of this book. A large number of students including academicians, intellectuals, and scholars were also present on this occasion.
