University of Education Observed Pink Ribbon Day

The University of Education organized an awareness walk and educational seminar to create
awareness regarding breast cancer. During the awareness walk, students were carrying the
banners, having slogans like “Early diagnose saves lives”, “Do not postpone life”, “Don’t be
afraid, be aware and don’t be late”. The awareness walk was followed by a seminar which was
attended by the faculty and students of University in large numbers. Vice Chancellor University
of Education Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.) presided over the seminar. While talking to the
students Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.) said that human life is very precious
but life of a woman is more precious because she has to nurture our next generations. He stressed
upon the need to create awareness among female youth regarding this deadly disease. He said we
should not feel hesitation to discuss our health issues, so that we could prevent the diseases at an
early stage.
Dr. Maryam Hasan from Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre
spoke in detail about the breast cancer. She said that breast cancer is a widespread disease and is
the prominent reason of death among women. She said breast cancer is preventable and can be
cured by an early diagnose. Dr. Maryam stressed on the need to include fruits and vegetables in
daily diet as well as to do exercise on daily basis to have a better and healthy life style. Prof. M
A Rafraf and Zahida Habib, the focal person of Cancer Awareness Campaign from University of
Education also addressed the seminar.
