Dr. Faheem K. Butt Awarded with Dr. Shah Jahan Prize by Pakistan Academy of Sciences (PAS)

It is a matter of great pride and honor for University of Education Lahore that Dr. Faheem Khurshied Butt of Department of Physics, Division of Science and Technology, University of Education Lahore has been awarded with Dr. Shah Jahan Prize in the field of Physics (2019) for his outstanding contribution in the field. Every year, only one of the best scientists in each subject receives the prestigious award for his contributions to the cause of science at the national and international levels. The Prize is awarded to a Scientist only once in his/her life time. The award is given on the basis of outstanding internationally acclaimed achievements in the field of scientific research, including the citations of the research papers by other scientists, gold medals and other awards already received. This is first time in the history of University of Education Lahore that a faculty member has been honored with a Pakistan Academy of Sciences Award. Dr. Faheem K. Butt is currently working as an Assistant Professor of Physics at Division of Science and Technology, University of Education Lahore. Before joining University of Education he was an AvH Fellowship (Alexander von Humboldt Fellow) in Technical University Munich, Germany in 2016. It is pertinent to mention that it’s a prestigious fellowship and only won by 105 scientists/social scientist of Pakistan from 1955-2015. He also remained associated as faculty member at The University of Lahore in 2015. He completed his Postdoctoral Research Fellowship from Centre for Sustainable Nanomaterials (CSNano), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 2015. He was conferred Ph.D. degree from Beijing Institute of Technology, China in 2014. His interest lies in Optoelectronics devices, Energy storage/conversion in nanomaterials and theoretical studies of materials using various softwares. He has published more than 100 research articles/book chapters as an author/co-author in peer reviewed international SCI journals with various publishers having an h-index of 24 with above 2000+ citations. He also provides services as an Editor/reviewer for International Publishers such as Elsevier, Royal Society of Chemistry, American Chemical Society, Springer, Taylor and Francis, American Scientific Publishers, Bentham Science, Wiley etc. Dr. Faheem has won several International and National research grants and awards. He is also HEC approved Supervisor for Ph.D. awardees of HEC’s scholarship and general Ph.D. scholars as well.
