One day “Aqua Idea Workshop” was organized by the joint
collaboration of University of Education and Alltech Pakistan at UE Township
Campus. Chairman National Agriculture Research Council Dr. Azeem was the chief
guest. The workshop was attended by the Vice Chancellor of different
universities such as Vice Chancellor University of Education Pro. Dr. Talat Naseer
Pasha (S.I), Vice Chancellor, Quaid-i-Azam University Dr. Muhammad Ali, Vice
Chancellor, University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Dr. Naseem Ahmad, Vice
Chancellor, Govt. College Women University, Faisalabad Dr. Robina Farooq, Chief
Executive Officer, Fisheries Development Board Dr. Anser Mehmood Chatta,
Director General Fisheries Department, Punjab Dr. Skindar Hyat and Managing
Director Alltech Pakistan Dr. Shahzad Naveed Jadoon.
While welcoming the guests & participants Vice Chancellor,
University of Education Pro. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I) said the aim of
organizing this workshop is to bridge public private linkages, innovative Aqua
dialogue through Aqua Idea workshop, revolution in better economy and food
security through Aqua collaborations, showcasing and mapping the bigger Aqua
culture opportunities in Pakistan, defining roadmap In genetics, feed &
feeding, processing, Aqua management and fulfilling the suppy chain gaps
through Aqua Value Creation Model. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha said we have gathered
all the stake holders i.e. govt. officials, private sector, academia &
researchers on this plate form on which they can discuss their ideas &
experiences to develop Aqua Culture Industry. He said if we use latest
technology & innovative ideas backed by best management skills, then we can
definitely promote the fisheries sector to the desired level. The present govt. is doing a lot to help Aqua
Culture Industry while taking different steps and we the academicians &
researchers should play our due role to help govt in this noble cause. We
should follow the concept of knowledge based economy, if we really want to meet
the challenges of 21st Century, he added.
While addressing the workshop, the different speakers
including chief guest Dr. Azeem said the University of Education and Alltech
deserve the appreciation for organizing such a useful workshop which will be
proved a first step towards the development of Aqua Culture. They said 30% area
of Pakistan has water which has large reservoir of different types of fishes
& other sea food but because of poor infrastructure, lake of technology and
management skills we are not getting benefits from this opportunity. They said
such type of activities can help to boost our economy at large.
