Introduction:

Dr. Muhammad Rouf Alvi hails from a village 21 KB situated in the town Qabula (District Pakpattan), Punjab, Pakistan. He completed his Ph.D. from the Department of Chemistry-BMC, Uppsala University, Sweden, in May 2012, in the group of Prof. Henrik Ottosson. Thereafter, he served as an Assistant Professor (interim placement and contract) at the Institute of Chemistry, University of the Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan, from Sep. 2012 to Dec. 2015. Then he worked as a Postdoc researcher at the Department of Chemistry, Xiamen University, China, from Jan. 2016 to May 2021 in the group of Prof. Jun Zhu. He completed two Postdocs there (Postdoc I: Jan. 2016 to Dec.2018, and Postdoc II: Jun. 2018 to May 2021). He joined his current position as an Assistant Professor of Chemistry (TTS) at the Department of Chemistry, University of Education, Lahore, Multan Campus, in Nov. 2021.   


He is working in both the experimental and computational chemistry fields. His major research interests include   

(a) Computational investigation of reaction mechanism, aromaticity, and stability of organic compounds.

(b) Activation of small molecules.

(c) Synthesis and computational study of low-coordinate organosilicon/germanium compounds, and protection of alcohols.
