Introduction:

Introduction: Dr. Muhammad Rouf Alvi comes from the village Chak 21 KB in the rural town Qabula, Tehsil Arifwala, District Pakpattan, Province Punjab, Pakistan. 

  • He received his PhD degree in Organic Chemistry from the Department of Chemistry–BMC, Uppsala University, Sweden, in May 2012, under the supervision of Prof. Henrik Ottosson. 
  • Thereafter, he served as an Assistant Professor (interim and contract appointments) at the Institute of Chemistry, University of the Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan. 
  • He then joined the research group of Prof. Jun Zhu as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Chemistry, Xiamen University, China, from January 2016 to May 2021, completing two consecutive postdoctoral appointments (Postdoc I: January 2016–December 2018; Postdoc II: January 2019–May 2021). 
  • He joined his current position as Assistant Professor of Chemistry (TTS) in the Department of Chemistry, University of Education, Lahore (Multan Campus), in November 2021.   

Research Interest: He works in both experimental and computational chemistry. His major research interests include: 
  • computational investigations of reaction mechanisms, aromaticity, and the stability of organic compounds; 
  • activation of small molecules; and 
  • synthesis and computational study of low-coordinate organosilicon and organogermanium compounds, as well as the protection of alcohols.
  
Travel Experience: He has international exposure, having traveled to several countries including Sweden, Switzerland, Denmark, Finland, Estonia, France, Italy, Hungary, Austria, Canada, and China.
