Introduction:

I, Dr. Syed Salman Shafqat, was born in District Layyah of Punjab province of Pakistan. During matriculation, I got the first position in my school. I got Talent Farming Scholarship by HEC during my BS studies at Institute of Chemistry, University of the Punjab http://pu.edu.pk/home/department/44/Institute-of-chemistry  in 2003. I enrolled in MS chemistry, University of the Punjab in 2008. My thesis title was synthesis of Aryl and Hetaryl Acrylic Acids. From my MS research, I produced two publications in International peer reviewed Journals. In 2012, I got admission in PhD chemistry at Institute of chemistry, University of the Punjab, Lahore. During this period, I completed the PhD course work. In the meanwhile, I applied for PhD overseas Scholarships. After an intensive selection procedure, I was offered a scholarship for PhD  in Malaysia and naturally took no time in accepting it. I started my PhD in January 2013 at under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Amir Khan who now Dean of School of Chemical Sciences (SCME) at NUST, Islamabad. I defended my PhD dissertation in September 2016, well within the 3.5 Years duration of the program titled Synthesis and Characterization of Silica Nanoparticles Grafted with Selected Heterocyclic Derivatives. From my PhD, I published ten papers on high impact factor journals, such as journal of Materials Research and Technology, open Chemistry. In total, I coauthored Thirty Five publications on International peer-reviewed Journals as well as several Book Chapters. My latest impact factor is more than 100. My Research interests are related to development of Novel Hybrid Materials for waste water treatments and drug delivery applications. I won travel grants from HEC to participate in International conference http//:www.unimas.my/jubile conference held at Kuching, Malaysia in 2018 and won best paper Award. I participated as Invited speaker in many National and International conferences. In January 2017 I joined Department of Chemistry, University of Gujrat under Interim Placement of fresh PhD (IPFP) and successfully completed my tenure. During this tenure, I won start up Research Grant (SRGP) from HEC and successfully completed it on time and produced one publication from this grant. Later on, in March 2018, I joined Department of Chemistry, University of Management and Technology, Sialkot and spent one year. Since March 2019, I am serving as Assistant Professor at Department of Chemistry, University of Education Lahore. At Department of Chemistry, I have organised 1st and 2nd International conference on Trends and Research in Chemistry (TRIC-2022 and TRIC-2023) http://tric.ue.edu.pk/ as a secretary. In addition to this I have organised many national and International seminar and webinars. I am also advising student society ALCHEMIST.
