Introduction:

Dr. Zahid Usman is currently working as Associate Professor and coordinator department of Physics at University of Education Lahore, Dera Ghazi Khan campus. He did his PhD in Materials Physics & Chemistry from Beijing Institute of Technology, China in 2013 under fully funded PhD scholarship awarded by Chinese Govt. He was nominated for best PhD student award in 2012. Previously, he has been working as Assistant Professor at The University of Lahore and Gomal University, D. I. Khan Pakistan. He is also working as coordinator student counselling at University of Education, Lahore. 

In 2015, he was awarded distinguished Alexander von Humboldt postdoctoral fellowship at Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg, Germany.

Dr. Zahid Usman research interests include the modelling and simulation of Z-pinch devices, Plasma Focus devices, DFT based first-principles studies of the structural, electronic, optical, magnetic and phonon properties of nitrides, oxides, and perovskites, role of photo-catalysis in water purification and hydrogen production,  and hydrothermal synthesis of different oxides for photovoltaic application.

He has won an international project entitled water purification via Co(OH)2 coated ZnO nanocomposites from Alexander von Humboldt foundation, Germany. He has 48 publications in SCI journal with 590 citations and impact factor of around 130. He is potential reviewer of 11 international journals of repute like journal of physical chemistry, electrochemica acta, nanotechnology, physica B: Condensed matter, journal of materials science and engineering B etc.
