Dr. Muhammad Mohsin Ahsan is an
Assistant Professor of Zoology at the University of Education, Faisalabad
Campus, specializing in ecology, wildlife, arachnology, scorpion venom studies,
and entomology. He holds a Ph.D. in Zoology from the University of Sargodha,
with a thesis on the diversity and ecology of scorpion fauna of Punjab,
Pakistan. Over more than a decade of teaching, research, and public engagement,
he has built a distinguished profile in biodiversity research, postgraduate
supervision, and science communication, and is recognized nationally and
internationally for his work on scorpion ecology and venom research.

Dr. Ahsan has authored more than
35 research publications in national and international peer-reviewed journals,
including Springer Nature, Toxicon, and the Journal of Asia-Pacific
Biodiversity, covering scorpion diversity, venom characterization, spider ecology,
and applied entomology. He successfully led an HEC-funded National Research
Programme for Universities (NRPU) project valued at Rs. 10 million, focused on
scorpion diversity and ecology across Punjab. His research has also produced a
filed patent with the Intellectual Property Organization of Pakistan (IPO) for
a Scorpion Collection Device for safe and efficient field collection.
He has supervised 29 BS/MSc and
MS/M.Phil. research students to completion and is currently supervising 5 Ph.D.
scholars working on topics including antivenom potential of native plant
extracts, molecular systematics of medically important scorpions, and
epidemiological trends in scorpion envenomation across Punjab. He regularly
reviews articles for national and international journals, including Scientific
Reports and the Journal of Basic and Applied Zoology.
Dr. Ahsan founded and leads
Biohavoc, a multi-platform outreach initiative dedicated to wildlife,
biodiversity, and environmental awareness, spanning a dedicated website,
YouTube channel, Facebook page, Instagram, and TikTok. Through Biohavoc, he
communicates original research and conservation issues to the public through
video content and news coverage. His work has also been featured by BBC (Urdu,
English, and Punjabi editions) and AJJ TV, with BBC coverage of his scorpion
research.

Under HEC-funded training and
collaboration programs, Dr. Ahsan has undertaken research training and
collaborative visits to Poland, Germany, the Czech Republic, Austria, the
United Kingdom, and the United States.
Dr. Ahsan is HEC approved Supervisor.
Dr. Ahsan has served as
Coordinator of Zoology at both the Dera Ghazi Khan and Faisalabad campuses of
the University of Education, and as a member of the Board of Studies (Zoology).
His administrative roles have included membership of the Finance Committee and
Internal Research Committee, convenership of Admission Committees, and service
as Coordinator of Security (2025 to date). He has also organized specialized
training workshops and seminars, including sessions on GPS/GIS applications in
wildlife and scorpion collection, and on scorpion taxonomy and DNA barcoding.
