Introduction:

Dr. Fatima Sughra is an Assistant Professor of Zoology at the University of Education, Lahore, with over two decades of experience in teaching, research, and academic leadership. She joined the University of Education in 2005 as a Lecturer in Biology and has since contributed extensively to undergraduate and postgraduate education in Zoology. She also served at the UE Jauharabad Campus for seven years before joining the Department of Zoology, Division of Science and Technology, in 2012. She was promoted to Assistant Professor in 2022.

Dr. Sughra earned her PhD in Zoology from the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS), Lahore, in 2021. Her doctoral research focused on the development and evaluation of vaccines against Aeromonas hydrophila to control bacterial diseases in cultured carp species of Punjab. Her broader research interests include fish health management, aquaculture disease prevention and control, fish immunology, antimicrobial resistance, and smart fisheries.

She has published extensively in national and international peer-reviewed journals, particularly in the areas of fish pathology, bacterial characterization, vaccine development, and aquatic animal health. Dr. Sughra has supervised multiple MPhil and MS research projects and is currently mentoring postgraduate students in applied fisheries and aquaculture research.

In addition to her teaching and research responsibilities, Dr. Sughra actively contributes to academic governance and quality assurance. She is a member of the Board of Studies (BoS), has served in the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC), and has held key coordination roles within the Department of Zoology. Through her work, she remains committed to advancing evidence-based aquaculture practices, capacity building, and impactful scientific research aligned with national and regional needs.
