In collaboration with Women Development Department, Government of Punjab, Women Development Centre was inaugurated at University of Education, Lahore on March 25, 2022. Vice Chancellor University of Education, Lahore Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.) presided over the inaugural ceremony while Vice Chancellor Lahore College for Women University Prof. Dr. Bushra Mirza (T.I.) was the chief guest. Representatives of Women Development Department, Government of Punjab, UE female teachers and students also graced the occasion.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, the Vice Chancellor University of Education, Lahore, Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.) said that undoubtedly woman is the basic unit of society without which no society can develop. It is imperative that women be provided with equal opportunities in education and training. He said that half of the total population of the Pakistan consists of women but unfortunately women are still struggling and suffering from innumerable problems in our country. According to various international reports, gender discrimination is a major cause of low economic growth in any country. Therefore, if we empower our women, a great positive change can be brought in the country. The Vice Chancellor further said that the main objective of establishing Women Development Centre in the University of Education is to enable university female students to be global change makers through its holistic, personal and professional development programs, designed to hone their knowledge, skills and competencies. While addressing the ceremony, the chief guest Vice Chancellor Lahore College for Women, University, Prof. Dr. Bushra Mirza (T.I.) said that the University of Education, Lahore has fulfilled an important need of the day with the establishment of Women Development Center. The administration of the university especially the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.) deserves congratulations. He said that the development of a woman is not only the development of an individual but also the development of a society. The women of Pakistan have the potential to play their part in tackling the challenges of the day. At the end of the event, Dr. Naeema Qureshi, Focal Person of Women Development Center, University of Education, Lahore, thanked the chief guest and others for attending the event.
