The Governor of Punjab/Chancellor of University of Education Ch. Muhammad Sarwar has inaugurated the Mega Project for strengthening the Main Campus of the University of Education. The groundbreaking ceremony was held at the University of Education Township Campus, Lahore which was also attended by Punjab Minister for Higher Education Raja Yasir Humayun, UE Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Rauf-i-Azam, and UE Registrar Dr. Manzoom Akhtar, along with top management of the university. Vice-Chancellor Dr Rauf-i-Azam briefed the Governor/Chancellor Ch. Muhammad Sarwar about the project in detail. He told that the said project was aimed at addressing the immediate needs of the Main Campus of University, in terms of improving infrastructure and other teaching facilities, along with construction of central library, central science lab, students hostel, bachelor faculty hostel, students service centre and purchase of buses as well ambulances for the students. Speaking on this occasion, the Governor of Punjab Ch. Muhammad Sarwar said he had always supported the universities in ensuring better infrastructure and all other necessary facilities for a much conducive environment for education. He said,” I believe education with proper facilities can work miracles and in this regard, I can proudly say that the University of Education is doing miracles. Its contribution is wonderful and undoubtedly the credit goes to its Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam. I would like to take this opportunity to mention the commitment of the present government towards education reforms and Prime Minister’s vision and mission to impart quality education across the country. We truly believe in the importance and significance of education as a means to the economic and ideological growth of any nation. Punjab Minister for Higher Education Raja Yasir Humayun said PTI Government attached great importance to higher education as per its manifesto. He said that the schemes for establishment of six new universities were included in ADP 2019-20 with an estimated cost of Rs.250 million. Humayun said the scheme for the establishment of smart classrooms in colleges all over Punjab was also included in ADP 2019-20 to provide an interactive learning environment. The Governor of Punjab Ch. Muhammad Sarwar also planted a tree along with other dignitaries under Green and Clean Pakistan Campaign.
