UE held its 9th Convocation, Governor Punjab Awarded Degrees and Medals to Graduating Students

9th Convocation of University of Education, Lahore was held at the Main Campus Township, Lahore on October 28, 2022, which was presided over by Governor Punjab/Chancellor Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman, while the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.), Vice Chancellors of various universities, UE Syndicate Members and other important personalities from academic and social circles were also present on the occasion. In the Convocation, 20 Ph.D., 293 MPhil/MS and 8427 undergraduate and post graduates have been conferred degrees while 53 graduating students have been awarded Gold, Bronze and Silver medals for outstanding positions.


Addressing the Convocation ceremony, Governor Punjab/Chancellor Muhammad Baligh Ur Rahman congratulated the students who received degrees and medals. He said that education is the most powerful weapon, which guarantees the success of not only an individual or a family, but the entire nation. Keeping this in vision, the government is committed to promoting higher education in the country, in which merit and transparency are given priority. Without education and research, we cannot stand on our feet or compete with the world, so all stakeholders have to pay special attention to this, in which the government will support them at all levels. Governor Punjab expressed pleasures that in recent years the University of Education has emerged as a shining star in the field of higher education, promoting the culture of research in the country as well as teacher education. Addressing the ceremony, Vice Chancellor of University of Education, Lahore Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.) thanked the participants especially Governor Punjab/Chancellor Muhammad Baligh Ur Rahman for their arrival. While congratulating the graduating students and their parents, the Vice Chancellor said that today is a special day for the teachers and students of the university. He said that since its establishment in 2002, the University of Education has trained thousands of students who are serving the country in various fields. University of Education, Lahore has shown unparalleled performance in terms of knowledge and research and services to society for the last 20 years. The university is paying full attention to developing the infrastructure of its campuses, libraries, I&T & science labs according to modern requirements, Campuses are also being provided with high speed internet facility. Currently, University of Education, Lahore consists of 5 divisions, 9 campuses and 67 affiliated colleges, where a total of more than 43 thousand students are studying. We have recently activated two new divisions, namely the Division of Arts and Social Sciences and the Division of Management and Administrative Science while the Division of Islamic and Oriental Learning is being launched in the near future. Recently, two new academic blocks and an auditorium have been constructed at Jauharabad and DG Khan Campuses of the university. Among the 493 teachers of the university, more than 60% have Ph.D. He said that I am happy to express that during 2020 to 2022 we have recruited 20 professors, 50 associate professors and 61 assistant professors. Lincoln Corner in UE Vehari Campus with the support of US Consulate General Office, Lahore, English Works Program in Faisalabad Campus, English Access Program in Dera Ghazi Khan and Multan Campus, while in collaboration with Punjab Information Technology Board National Freelance Training Program have been launched at UE Township and Multan Campus. The Vice-Chancellor expressed his happiness and said that in 2021-22, scholarships worth Rs 150 million have been awarded to needy and merited students, along with the fact that recently the employees and students of the University have contributed Rs 12 million for flood victims. MoUs have been signed with various domestic and foreign institutions including Hebei Academy of Fine Arts, China for joint degree programs, student exchange and overall development in the field of education and research. On this occasion, Governor Punjab Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman also inaugurated the Central Library of University of Education, Lahore.
