Launch of STEM Education Training in collaboration with UPSIGN at UE Minister of Education announces one million rupees prize for winners at the Sports Gala inauguration

The University of Education, Lahore has launched a STEM Education Training Workshop in collaboration with UPSIGN (UK-Pakistan Science and Innovation Global Network). During this four-day training workshop, over 200 teachers from 10 universities across the province will receive modern training. The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Aqif Anwar Chaudhry, while the Provincial Minister for Higher Education, Rana Sikandar Hayat, was the chief guest. In addition, Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat inaugurated the university's annual Sports Gala 2025 and announced a cash prize of one million rupees for the winners on behalf of the government.
According to the details, the University of Education, Lahore, with the support of UPSIGN, UK has organized a four-day modern training workshop for university teachers from across the province. More than 200 teachers from 10 universities will be provided modern educational training in this program. The inaugural session of the workshop was held at the University's main Campus, Township, Lahore. The ceremony was chaired by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Aqif Anwar Chaudhry, with Rana Sikandar Hayat as the chief guest. Guests of honor included Punjab Secretary for Higher Education Dr. Farrukh Naveed, Vice Chancellors of various universities, and founder of UPSIGN Professor Dr. Jawwad Darr.
Addressing the ceremony, Minister of Education Rana Sikandar Hayat stated that the Punjab government, through the University of Education, aims to provide the latest training to teachers across the province. To introduce students to modern education, the government will distribute one hundred thousand laptops over the next four months. Over 30,000 students have already benefited from merit-based scholarships, and an additional 25,000 students will receive support. Given the educational needs, a substantial increase in educational institutions will be made across the province. Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Aqif Anwar Chaudhry, in his address, said that the University of Education, Lahore is the largest university in the province in terms of geography and other metrics, offering high-quality education to over 50,000 students. He said that with the support of UPSIGN, they are introducing globally recognized education standards at the national level. Punjab Secretary of Education Dr. Farrukh Naveed presented recommendations for advanced training of school and college teachers under the supervision of the University of Education, Lahore. He stated that the Punjab Higher Education Commission, UPSIGN International, and the University of Education, Lahore are committed to launching high-level training programs for teachers. Professor Jawwad Darr, founder of UPSIGN UK, said that Pakistani universities are playing a prominent role in providing high-quality education and that they aim to introduce Pakistani teachers on international platforms. A large number of vice chancellors, teachers, and students from universities across the country participated in the event.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Education also inaugurated the University of Education Lahore's Annual Sports Gala 2025. In his speech, he encouraged the students and announced a government prize of one million rupees. The guest of honor at the Sports Gala’s opening ceremony was former Olympian Khawaja Junaid, and the event was presided over by Director of Sports, Professor Dr. Umar Saleem. Students from all campuses and divisions of the University of Education, Lahore are participating in the gala.
