Doctor of Philosophy in English (Linguistics)

Objectives

The objectives of PhD in English (Linguistics) program are to:

  • Understand the core linguistics concepts for use.
  • Display their ability to critically read and analyze English Language & Linguistics.
  • Develop a research-based comprehension of the linguistic sensibility and its multidisciplinary value.
  • Enjoy and analyze the wider range of reading.
  • Orientate themselves to the historical tradition of writings in English.
  • Generate valuable research in their relevant linguistic field.

Entry Requirements

  • A Master’s degree in a relevant subject, earned from a recognized university after a minimum of 17.5/18 years of education with minimum CGPA 3.0 out of 4.0 in the semester system or first division in the annual system is required to be eligible for admission in PhD program.
  • The potential applicant will submit the application accompanied with a concept paper/research proposal that he/she intends to undertake, to the admission office of the relevant division/campus. He/she may also be required to justify the concept paper/ research proposal before the PhD Admission Committee at the time of interview.
  • The applicants shall be required to take Subject Based Entry Test and secure minimum score as per HEC requirements to become eligible for admission in PhD program.
