Master of Arts in English

Objectives

The objectives of MA English course are to:

  • Enhance Lerner awareness about English Literature, both British and American.
  • Enlighten students about the modern trends in language & literature.
  • Equip the students with research paradigms;
  • Inculcate research oriented approach to teaching of English Language & Literature.
  • Provide hands on experience of English Language teaching through internship.
  • Equip students with theory and practice to undertake future educational challenges.
  • Become professionally competent and reflective teachers.

Durationn

The duration of program is 2 years / 4 Semesters and each semester comprises of 16-18 weeks

Entry Requirements

A.

  • For students who have done BA/BSc in Annual system
  • Minimum 45% marks or 2nd division in BA/BSc
  • Minimum 45% marks in the English Compulsory Subject

Extra credit will be given to the students who have studied English Literature.as elective subject in BA on the basis of the following:

Formula/ Criteria:
Marks in English Literature (Elective) *Extra Credit in Merit Score
50% and above 5(Five ) Bonus Points
Below 50% 0(Zero ) Bonus Points

*These bonus points will be added to the overall merit score.


B.
  • For students who have done BA/BSc in Semester System
  • Minimum 60% marks or 2.5/4.0 CGPA in BA/BSc.
  • Minimum 60% marks in English Compulsory Subject.

Extra credit will be given to the students who have studied English Literature as elective subject in BA on the basis of the following formula/ criteria:

50% and above 5(Five ) Bonus Points
Below 50% 0(Zero ) Bonus Points
